Tom Miller

Mr. Miller is currently the Director for the Office for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear within the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy. In this role, Mr. Miller provides strategic direction and execution of nuclear energy programs to improve research infrastructure and industry access to unique national laboratory and university experimental user-facilities, test capabilities and expertise, university research reactor fuel and infrastructure enhancements and university nuclear research, and advanced modelling and simulation and other cross-cutting research areas.  He has been with the Department since 1999 and held responsible positions over key research programs involving deployment of new nuclear plants and development for light water reactor technology.

Mr. Miller has been involved with the commercial nuclear industry since 1973. He has served in a wide variety of engineering, supervisory and management positions with utilities, engineering and consulting firms as well as the federal government. Mr. Miller received his bachelor’s degree in nuclear science from the State University of New York in 1973.
