Rigell Joins ORAU as Associate Director of Science Education

In this new role, Rigell will use resources to advance science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM education.

Craig_RigellOAK RIDGE — Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) has selected Dr. Craig D. Rigell as associate director of science education programs.

In this new role, Rigell will use resources at the ORAU Center for Science Education and build upon existing partnerships with the U.S. Department of Energy, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and ORAU member institutions to advance science, technology engineering and math, or STEM education.

Focused on kindergarten through grade 12, Rigell will lead ORAU teacher professional development programs as well as complementary activities in support of vital education initiatives across the state and region.

“We’re very fortunate to have Craig join ORAU,” said Dr. Wayne Stevenson, ORAU vice president and director of science education programs. “He brings talents, skills and state-wide experience as a respected educator that will be invaluable as ORAU continues to increase its support for Tennessee’s First to the Top Program and other K-12 STEM education.”
