ORAU Publication Celebrates Pioneering History, Including Major Milestones, Areas of Thought Leadership and More

As part of ORAU’s 75th anniversary celebration, ORAU’s annual report, ORAU Story, 2021, marks major milestones in the company’s history, including many of the areas in which they were pioneers or leaders in workforce development, technology, medicine, and more.
Throughout it’s history, for example, ORAU has been a pioneer in the area of radiation safety. Since 1948, ORAU has provided professional training to thousands of health physicists, physicians and scientists in the safe handling of radioisotopes. ORAU was one of the first university consortia to manage programs that enabled the emerging science of nuclear energy, was one of the early pioneers in cancer detection, treatment and therapies, was an early leader in global climate change research, and was a trail blazer in early K-12 STEM education initiatives and scientific workforce development programs.
ORAU Story, 2021, showcases the continued commitment to pioneering work in areas like equitable distribution of artificial intelligence in education; the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in workforce development initiatives for ORAU’s government agency customers; and how their own company is working differently during the pandemic.
The publication also celebrates the management of a new $129.7 million contract for the NASA Postdoctoral Program, which provides research fellowships to early-career and senior scientists.
“We created ORAU Story to highlight the most interesting and compelling stories that defined our year,” said Pam Bonee, ORAU director of communications and marketing. “This publication is loaded with features and profiles about our people, compelling perspective pieces that spotlight our expertise and thought leadership, and highlights of our ongoing research.”
