Oak Ridge Students’ Satellite Now in Orbit

Students and mentors assemble RamSat.The next ORION talk will take place at 7  p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, via Zoom.

The talk will be by the Robertsville RamSat team on the RamSat satellite. This is open to the public, a news release stated. The Robertsville Middle School cube-shaped satellite — dubbed RamSat for the school’s mascot — began its construction in the 2015-2016 school year after Robertsville became the first middle school selected by NASA’s Cube Sat Launch Initiative (CSLI) program. RamSat is a two-unit CubeSat, with dimensions of 20 centimeters by 10 centimeters by 10 centimeters.
