The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is seeking public input on its draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) associated with Kairos Power’s construction permit application for the Hermes demonstration reactor to be built in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This is a normal and expected part of the licensing process, and we encourage anyone with an interest in the project to get involved.
The NRC is accepting comments on the draft EIS through December 6, 2022. Members of the public may submit comments online or in person via the following channels:
- The NRC will be hosting a public meeting at the DoubleTree Hotel in Oak Ridge on Wednesday, November 16 from 7-9 p.m. preceded by an open house starting at 6 p.m. The meeting will be hybrid, so those who cannot attend in person may participate virtually. Kairos Power will be there in-person for both the meeting and the open house. Full meeting details will be published on November 1 at https://www.nrc.gov/reactors/non-power/hermes-kairos.html.It will be wonderful if ETEC could be present physically as well to support
- Individuals may also submit comments via email to KairosHermes-CPEIS@nrc.gov
