The operator of the Y-12 nuclear weapons plant in Oak Ridge has secured a five-year labor agreement with the multi-union Knoxville Building and Construction Trades Council.

The agreement between Consolidated Nuclear Security LLC and the council expires in 2021 but features an extension option to 2026.

CNS oversees operation of Y-12, where nuclear weapons are both dismantled and built, as well as the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas.

The council consists of 16 unions that include bricklayers, carpenters, electrical workers and ironworkers. It includes some 5,000 East Tennessee workers.
