A 12,000 square foot mini-city where kids can discover how free enterprise works held a grand opening Wednesday morning at the Hollingsworth Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.

A new shop is joining the thriving metropolis: the Consolidated Nuclear Security Y-12 National Security Complex. It is a celebration of the shops in BizTown and for crossing the 50,000 student mark for participation this school year.

“Consolidated Nuclear Security is proud to participate in the Junior Achievement of East Tennessee effort,” said Tom Hayden, CNS Senior Director of Safeguards and Security and JA of East TN board member. “It’s great to see young people learning entrepreneurship and getting a hands-on chance to put what they’ve learned into action.”

Before going to JA BizTown, students go through a four week course of study on how to be a citizen, how a city’s economy works, how to apply for a job and how to run a successful business. All of that classroom learning is then put into practice at BizTown.
