B&W Y-12 LLC has named Bill Reis vice president of Environment, Safety and Health at the Y-12 National Security Complex. Reis has managed manufacturing, engineering and quality assurance organizations during his 29-year career at the site, most recently serving as Vice President of Program Management.
“Bill has worked throughout Y-12 and spent his career doing whatever needed to be done to help us meet our missions successfully and safely,” said Darrel Kohlhorst, president and general manager of B&W Y-12, which operates Y-12 for the National Nuclear Security Administration. “His knowledge and energy will continue the great strides we’ve taken in environment, safety and health in recent years.”
In addition to his leadership at Y-12, Reis is actively involved with community organizations including Second Harvest Food Bank, Ijams Nature Center, Tennessee Valley Corridor Foundation and East Tennessee Economic Council.
“I look forward to this new opportunity,” Reis said. “I am passionate about Y-12’s national security missions, and I’m looking forward to applying my experience to our focus on excellence and continuous improvement in the Environment, Safety and Health organization.”
Reis earned a B.S. degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Florida and an M.S. degree in engineering management from the University of Tennessee. He also is a graduate of the Darden School of Business Executive Management Program at the University of Virginia.
He replaces Michelle Reichert, who joined the leadership team of Babcock & Wilcox Conversion Services LLC earlier this year.
