WSI-Oak Ridge was recently recognized by the Tennessee Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) with the prestigious Pro Patria Award.
OAK RIDGE — WSI-Oak Ridge was recently recognized by the Tennessee Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) with the prestigious Pro Patria Award.
The Pro Patria is the highest award that a state ESGR can award to an employer.
“Pro Patria” translated from Latin means “For One’s Country” and the award is only presented to a select few organizations annually. WSI-Oak Ridge was only one of two Tennessee companies honored with the award this year.
“On behalf of the entire WSI-Oak Ridge Team, I am so honored that the ESGR would choose our company to receive this esteemed award,” said WSI-Oak Ridge General Manager Lee Brooks. “I am proud of the work we do to support our employees who are deployed serving our country and I am also proud that approximately 47% of our employees are veterans.”
The award was presented at the annual ESGR Awards Dinner held at the Opryland Hotel.
ESGR is a Department of Defense Agency that promotes public and private understanding of the National Guard and Reserve in order to gain employer and community support.
“WSI-Oak Ridge is the type of company that all employers should seek to emulate. They understand the value of employing people with the warrior spirit and the courage to service this nation even while pursuing a civilian career,” said John Dyess, Army Reserve Ambassador for Tennessee and Area Chairman of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. “I point to WSI-OR as the model for all companies when considering their employment policies and procedures. I know of none better.”
WSI-Oak Ridge was the first company in Tennessee to sign ESGR’s Statement of Support as a Five-Star Award, which identifies WSI-Oak Ridge as a very proactive and supportive employer. The company has also been honored with ESGR’s Above and Beyond Award , Patriotic Employer Award, Seven Seals Award and Chief, Army Reserve Outstanding Achievement Award.
WSI-Oak Ridge and its approximately 1000 employees provide para-military protective forces for the Oak Ridge Reservation which includes the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the East Tennessee Technology Park, the Federal Office Building Complex and the Y-12 National Security Complex.
