“This president, when it comes to small businesses, has always taken an all of the above approach,” says Gene Sperling, director of the National Economic Council.
The White House recently announced a series of initiatives aimed at helping small businesses.
“We can’t wait, we will push for everything we can do legislatively,” said National Economic Council director Gene Sperling. But “we will not wait for legislation. We will take whatever actions we can.”
The initiatives — done through executive order — include accelerating payments to federal government subcontractors, extending the Small Business Administration’s small loan program, and streamlining the application process for certain SBA services.
“The White House has so little to offer small businesses they’ve resorted to recycling, reusing, and repackaging,” said House Speaker John Boehner’s spokesman Brendan Buck. “This is no solace for small businesses facing a huge tax increase next year under the President’s plan.”
