Where will the NNSA locate the federal site office for Y-12/Pantex? Amarillo? Oak Ridge? Somewhere in between?
Last week NNSA Deputy Administrator Don Cook announced internally that he intends to appoint Steve Erhart as manager of the Nuclear Security Production Office that will oversee the Y-12 and Pantex plants under the new contract. The appointment is subject to approval by the NNSA and DOE Executive Resource Boards.
Erhart currently serves as NNSA’s site manager at Pantex. His appointment again raises a question that has been floating around for months: Where will the NNSA locate the federal site office for Y-12/Pantex? Amarillo? Oak Ridge? Somewhere in between?
Josh McConaha, a spokesman at NNSA headquarters in Washington, said the announcement and pending appointment of Erhart does not mean that the National Nuclear Security Administration has decided to locate the main oversight office for the combined contract at Pantex.
