tnAchieves is the partnering organization to the TN Promise Scholarship in 90 of the 95 counties in Tennessee. Their mission is to increase higher education opportunities for Tennessee high school students by providing last-dollar scholarships with mentor guidance.

Mentors are crucial to TN Promise students’ success. TN Promise students are graduating at a rate 21% higher than their non-TN Promise peers because of mentors. tnAchieves mentors spend about one hour per month reminding students of important deadlines, serving as a trusted college resource and, most importantly, encouraging students to reach their full potential.  They anticipate more than 64,000 students from the Class of 2020 to apply for the scholarship this year.  Many of these students will be the first person in their family to go to college and just need a little extra assistance.

tnAchieves is almost halfway to their goal of recruiting 9,000 mentors to support students in the Class of 2020. Below is a map with an update on the 90 counties they serve across Tennessee. Visit the website to find exactly how many mentors are still needed in each county at https://tnachieves.org/mentors/dashboard/.

Since the launch of TN Promise, more than 5,000 additional low-income students than were previously projected have entered college, and Tennessee’s economically disadvantaged students are 17 percent more likely to go to college.  TN Promise students are also retaining, graduating and transferring at rates higher than their peers attending college without TN Promise.  Below is a video from Governor Haslam detailing the importance of the mentoring program.  Please consider giving one hour per month to help local students that are the future workforce!
