Tennessee was named State of the Year in the latest edition of Business Facilities magazine.

TN_MapTennessee was named State of the Year in the latest edition of Business Facilities magazine.

The Knoxville-Oak Ridge Innovation Valley was highlighted for contributing to Tennessee’s ranking and Knoxville, in its own right, was ranked among the top ten metros for economic growth potential.

Tennessee was top ranked for auto manufacturing strength, recognized as the “polysilicon hub of the U.S.,” and the Innovation Valley was noted for its alternative energy research and technology transfer efforts.

According to Business Facilities, examples of Innovation Valley’s “technical and entrepreneurial synergies are easy to find.” It lists LED North America, Bandit Lites, and Industrial Ceramic Solutions among the companies working with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
