First of all, I believe there are few, if any opportunities, to be had that are as great as being part of the STEM program. After my selection and acceptance in October, program members put forth a great amount of time and effort to place me with an employer. By March 1, I had officially started part-time with B&W Y-12, working as a technical engineering associate in their organization. Here, I was greeted by a few other employees that had prior service experience, as well as two other STEM participants. My current job is to help all the engineering fields with specific tasks or projects that need additional assistance. This is an amazing position. I enjoy having a broad experience in all the engineering fields, as well as being able to meet with very knowledgeable working engineers at the company. It seems that no matter whom I speak with or which building I am in, the employees at this facility are happy and eager to help a new recruit. Not only do I enjoy the work atmosphere, but I also enjoy the team-oriented organization they emphasize. The work is amazing. The people are amazing, and the program is amazing. The STEM program is simply unbeatable. I deeply appreciate the program and all the amazing people who have helped us Veterans see and achieve our goals and dreams. Thank you.
