The Southern Technology Council will hold the first webinar in a series on advanced materials in the South on December 15 at 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. (Eastern Time). This first webinar on carbon fibers will identify the material’s research issues, which if solved, would increase markets, the commercial potential for the material, and the South’s strengths in this material. To register for the webinar, click on https://southern.ilinc.com/register/ppyvysp.
Two respected speakers from Oak Ridge National Laboratory will present: Tom Rogers, Director, Industrial and Economic Development Partnerships, and Cliff Eberle, Technology Development Manager, Composite Materials Technology.
The webinars are a “contest”—to assess the potential economic value of advanced materials segments to the South. “Winners” will evolve into working groups for the Southern Advanced Materials in Transportation. Alliance (SAMTA)—a virtual innovation cluster, funded by the Economic Development Administration.
The advanced materials series includes three other webinars—one each month for three months, beginning in January 2011. Topics, dates, times, and registration links are:
