The Oak Ridge City Council named Mark Watson as its top pick for City Manager.
OAK RIDGE – Mark S. Watson, former city administrator in Yuma, Ariz., could be Oak Ridge’s next city manager.
The Oak Ridge City Council named Watson, who is currently unemployed but managed Yuma for five years, as its top pick during a special meeting Wednesday. Watson’s appointment is subject to contract negotiations.
Council’s second choice is Ray Gosack, deputy city administrator in Fort Smith, Ark.
The final vote on the first and second choices was unanimous, although in a straw poll earlier in the hour-long meeting ,four Council members named Watson as their top pick, while three selected Gosack.
The other two candidates were William P. Shanahan Jr., city manager in St. Marys, Ga., and James W. Zumwalt, former city manager in Paducah, Ky.
