Energy Secretary Steven Chu will testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s investigative panel, which has launched a months-long investigation into Solyndra.

Green_Globe_with_VineEnergy Secretary Steven Chu will take full responsibility for approving a $535 million loan guarantee to the now-bankrupt solar firm Solyndra during a House hearing Thursday, insisting that politics did not influence the decision.

“As the Secretary of Energy, the final decisions on Solyndra were mine, and I made them with the best interest of the taxpayer in mind. I want to be clear: over the course of Solyndra’s loan guarantee, I did not make any decision based on political considerations,” Chu will say, according to written testimony made public by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

“My decision to guarantee a loan to Solyndra was based on the analysis of experienced professionals and on the strength of the information they had available to them at the time.”
