Masks or no masks: Local legislators weigh in – East Tennessee Economic Council

Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, R-Oak Ridge, touched on the mask discussion in the Tennessee General Assembly during a recent event in Oak Ridge.

“We’ve got a big controversy on masks right now, but I think we’ll get through it,” he said in a speech at an East Tennessee Economic Council meeting in Oak Ridge.

The event last Friday centered on the release of a report about the positive impact of U.S. Department of Energy activities on the economy — not about masks or COVID-19 precautions. However, McNally touched on the mask debate briefly as an example of the work the state’s legislators are doing.

“We all work together, Republicans and Democrats,” he said in his speech. “It’s not like in Washington.”
