PCS identified that while opportunities for project controllers exist in rural, de-industrialized, or disadvantaged communities, they are often staffed with non-local project controllers because the local workforce doesn’t have the project controls competencies necessary to staff the projects.

Therefore, the need was recognized to develop and deliver a data driven, holistic project controls training program that could provide communities with well-paying, stable jobs and entities with a verified process for hiring well-trained individuals.

A major DOE/NNSA client recently commented that the PCS program was enabling his site to “transform the way we think about human capital and caused us to rethink our current project staffing model.” The PCMA© gave them increased visibility into the project controls competencies of its staff. This allowed them to make better project staffing decisions, overhaul their approach to professional development, and improve their employee retention rate. In addition, the project controllers were able to perform multiple project controls functions compared to the traditionally trained project controller who had more limited project controls competencies, generating significant cost savings by reducing the total number of staff needed on projects.

Christine McLean, PCS Global Managing Director on receiving the award- “I am so proud that we have won this award. It shows what is possible with a team of passionate and dedicated professionals who want to share their wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure the next generation of professionals are holistically trained and set on the road to successful careers.”
