“The Business Tax Reform Debate: The 2016 Election and Beyond”
Economist Alan Viard, October 28th, 2016

The Knoxville Economics Forum is pleased to welcome American Enterprise Institute (AEI) economist Alan Viard to the podium for a discussion of business tax reform and the 2016 election. Mr. Viard is a resident scholar at the AEI, focusing on federal tax and budget policy. He is the author of “Progressive Consumption Taxation: The X Tax Revisited” and “The Real Tax Burden: Beyond Dollars and Cents”, and his work has been featured in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Bloomberg, NPR’s Planet Money, and The Hill. Prior to joining AEI, Mr. Viard worked for both the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the Ohio State University. Mr. Viard has previously served as a visiting scholar at the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Tax Analysis, a senior economist at the White House’s Council of Economic Advisers, and a staff economist at the Joint Committee on Taxation of the US Congress. Viard received his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University and a B.A. in economics from Yale University.
