ETEC Meeting: Chris Mainini, Radio Systems Corporation
April 11, 2014 @ 7:30 am - 8:30 am EDT
Chris Mainini is responsible for the management and growth of RSC’s Innovations and Quality Teams. While focused on identifying a steady stream of innovative new products, processes, and technology platforms the team also secures the intellectual property that protects them. Also under Chris’ direction are RSC’s Consumer Experience Quality Teams that oversee supplier audits, design verification and regulatory compliance.
Prior to Radio Systems, he held progressively responsible positions at General Dynamics-Electronics and Loral-Conic utilizing his talents in the designs of radio transponder systems. Chris transitioned from Engineering management to Vice President of Retail Sales for Linear Corp., a leading manufacturer of professional and consumer wireless security equipment before joining Radio Systems.
Chris graduated in 1979 from New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from National University-San Diego, California (1984) and holds a Ph.D. in Business (2009) from Warren National University.
In 1996, Chris joined Radio Systems as VP of Engineering. The small, talented team was chartered with introducing a number of ground-breaking products while improving overall quality. The team’s continual stream of product and process innovations and improvements, coupled with strategic acquisitions helped to expand the company’s distribution and sales. Chris’ hero is Thomas Edison. Edison, (who held over 1000 patents), expertly balanced marketing, finance and innovation and ran an “innovation factory” in Menlo, Park, New Jersey. Edison believed that the collision of diverse ideas generates the spark of innovation. Chris and his Innovations team strive to follow in Edison’s footsteps searching for new product and business ideas, verifying feasibility and securing patent protection.
He and his wife, Ann-Marie, have two children Christine and Kevin, and live in Knoxville with Jackie, the family’s pet Border Collie.
