ETEC Meeting: Ed Steinebach, Eagle Bend Manufacturing

Ed Steinebach is the General Manager for Magna International’s Eagle Bend Manufacturing plant located in Clinton, Tennessee. A tool maker by trade, Ed has spent more than 34 years in manufacturing operations. For the past 15 years Ed has focused his efforts specifically to Hot Stamping Technology and Manufacturing. In 2001 he was responsible for managing and commissioning of the first 5 Hot Stamp lines in North America for Benteler Automotive Goshen, Indiana Plant. In 2011 Ed joined Martinrea’s Detroit Plant as the General Manager. After successfully turning the Detroit plant around Ed joined Eagle Bend’s Facility in 2012. Faced with a similar turnaround situation at Eagle Bend, in less than 16 months Ed and his team have turned Eagle Bend into an industry leader in the Manufacturing of high strength components for Vehicle Impact Management. Eagle Bend has most recently been awarded the TS16949 Certification, Ford Q1 (which was reinstated after losing it in 2011), and GM Quality Service Award. Additionally, in April of 2014, Eagle Bend was the recipient of Automotive News “PACE” Award for a one-piece hot stamp door ring. This award for product innovation is a key component for offset frontal crash protection and overall vehicle weight savings.
