Michelle Reichert has 25 years of experience in Department of Energy conduct of operations environments. Her responsibilities have included deputy project management and senior leadership in environment, safety, and health; safeguards and security; emergency management; waste management; transportation; and manufacturing operations.
At B&W Pantex as Deputy General Manager, Michelle has provided leadership in all aspects of Plant operations involving nuclear weapons, plutonium pit storage, high explosives, engineering, safety, security, emergency management, facilities management, quality, environmental protection, and general administration.
Michelle led a team dedicated to safe and effective start-up of a one-of-a-kind depleted uranium hexafluoride conversion facility as Deputy Project Manager and Environment, Safety, and Health Director of B&W Conversion Services. The project won the Kentucky Governor’s Safety Award, Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation 100% Award, National Safety Council Million Work Hours and Perfect Record Awards and the National Safety Council Occupational Excellence Achievement and Industry Leader Award.
For five years prior, Michelle served as Vice President, Environment, Safety, and Health at B&W Y-12. There, she was the interpretive authority for environment, safety, and health, waste operations, human performance improvement, behavior-based safety, and integrated safety management. She led a team of more than 350 personnel dedicated to improving performance in pursuit of a goal of target zero injuries and environmental impacts.
She also held various positions over the course of her career with B&W Y-12 including Manager of Enriched Uranium Metalworking Production and Manufacturing Compliance Manager. With Lockheed Martin Energy Systems at Y-12, Michelle served as Program Manager for Y-12 Modernization, Project Manager with the Y-12 Plant Manager’s Office, and Operations Manager of Analytical Chemistry.
Michelle holds a BS in Biology/Chemistry from Viterbo University and an MS in Radiological Engineering/Health Physics from the University of Florida.
