ETEC Meeting: Leslie Shuman, Alcoa

For the past year, Leslie Shuman has worked as the Director of Operational Readiness for Alcoa Inc.’s Phase 2 Automotive Expansion in Alcoa, TN.

Leslie is responsible for coordinating the Alcoa, TN manufacturing operational needs in support of the automotive growth plan. Her role ensures an aligned strategy for automotive product development, quality, recycled scrap and customer connection strategy and organizational design for Tennessee. This includes facilitating multidisciplinary resources across multiple groups within the business, establishing an effective culture, driving disciplined execution and total employee engagement to achieve profitable growth.

Leslie joined Alcoa in June, 1985 and has held a number of positions in Commercial, Operations, Alcoa Business Systems, and Supply Chain across a number of locations in Alcoa’s rolling business. In recent years she led strategy teams evaluating options for the phase 2 auto expansion and led the scrap and logistics components of the Auto Phase 1 project. Her direct accountabilities include sales and operations planning, metal management, logistics and customer service. Leslie is a Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of Alcoa Women’s Network (AWN).
