TITLE: Beyond the Bedpan: Nurses in Healthcare Innovation

Dr. Victoria Niederhauser is Dean and Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Nursing. She has also held academic appointments at the University of Hawaii, George Mason University and George Washington University. The focus of Dr. Niederhauser’s scholarly activities are in the area of child and adolescent Health Promotion and Disease Prevention; her motivation to work in this important area stems from her passion to help children and their families be healthy and stay healthy. Dr. Niederhauser published a book and has authored over 50 articles and book chapters on child health and educational issues. She has received funding for nursing research and training grants totaling over $6.6 million dollars. Dr. Niederhauser is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. She has received several National awards and currently serves on several National Boards.

Dr. Tami Wyatt, a nurse and instructional designer, is the Associate Dean of Research and Torchbearer Professorship of Nursing at the University of Tennessee, College of Nursing.  Dr. Wyatt is Co-Director of the Health Innovation Technology & Simulation Lab and co-owner and President of Academic Technology Innovations. Dr. Wyatt has received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and from private corporations for her work with technology to improve consumer and professional health education. She is a Fellow in the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow program, the Academy of Nursing,  the Academy of Nursing Education, a Scholar of the Harvard Macy Institute and a Scholar of the Mobile Health Training Institutes of the National Institutes of Health.  Dr. Wyatt is currently working with health care facilities who are committed to innovation among their staff and within their facility.
