Tom Jouvanis is president of Atkins Nuclear Secured Holdings Corporation. Headquartered in Oak Ridge, TN, Atkins Nuclear Secured Holdings operates under a special security agreement with the Department of Energy, enabling the firm to hold security clearances and possess a FOCI certification.
Atkins Nuclear Secured Holdings Corporation is comprised of several subsidiary companies including Atkins Nuclear Secured, LLC; Isotek Systems, LLC; Atkins Nuclear Solutions US, Inc.; and Atkins Nuclear Performance Strategies, Inc., with affiliated sole-purpose entities Washington River Protection Solutions, LLC, and Mid-America Conversion Services, LLC (MCS). These subsidiaries execute Atkins’ high-profile work for DOE including the Hanford Tank Operations Contract, the Depleted Uranium Hexafluoride (DUF6) Conversion Project, the Salt Waste Processing Facility contract, and the Uranium-233 Disposition contract here in Oak Ridge.
Tom became president of Atkins Nuclear Secured Holdings in fall 2016, replacing previous president Alan Parker when an Atkins-led consortium won the prime contract to operate two DUF6 conversion plants in Ohio and Kentucky, with Alan as project manager and president of our MCS joint venture.
In his capacity as president, Tom provides strategic direction and leadership for the company’s government cleanup project portfolio involving contracts collectively valued at $20 billion with over 7,000 project staff for more than 100 active projects in the U.S. and Canada.
Tom is a degreed chemical engineer and executive with more than 35 years of experience leading organizations in the performance of management consulting, engineering & construction, environmental cleanup, and chemical manufacturing. Before becoming president, Tom was senior vice president of business development for EnergySolutions PP&T for more than 10 years and later Atkins Nuclear Secured Holdings after last year’s acquisition. Tom maintains that he is living proof that chemical engineers can do almost anything.
Tom holds a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Kentucky and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from The Cooper Union in New York City. He is married and is the proud grandfather of Leo and Eli and resides in Arlington, VA with his extended family.
