Friday Morning ETEC Breakfasts
For years ETEC has met very Friday from 7:30-8:30 a.m. However, during this current healthcare situation, the ETEC meetings will be held virtually. Subscribe to ETEC’s newsletter for the latest information or visit our event calendar for more details. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this new world of online convening.
Normally, every Friday from 7:30-8:30 a.m. ETEC invites speakers to share interesting and pertinent information about the community, science, technology, special initiatives, and other fascinating topics.
The meetings are held in the UT Outreach Center, Homer Fisher Room at 1201 Oak Ridge Turnpike. Please visit the Contact page for a map and to get directions.

ETEC… After Hours!
This event series will feature networking, drinks, and conversations with accomplished professionals and is perfect for both established and early career professionals in the Knoxville-Oak Ridge region. With the goal of fostering an environment of mentoring and relationship building, all ETEC members and guests are invited and are asked to encourage the emerging leaders in your organizations or in your network to attend.
The agenda will include networking, a panel of speakers, and time for Q&A. The plan is to foster an atmosphere for open discussion.

ETEC Annual Meeting
Each year in early December ETEC holds an Annual Meeting. This event is truly a community event, attended by over 250 people, including member companies, representatives from DOE contractors, and when the Congressional calendar allows, members of the Congressional and Senatorial delegation.
ETEC invites a prominent individual to deliver the keynote address. Past keynote speakers have included: John Marburger of the President’s Office of Science and Technology Policy; Undersecretary for Science Ray Orbach; Ambassador Linton Brooks; and then Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. In a previous year Bill Haslam, Governor of the State of Tennessee, delivered the address.
ETEC honors and celebrates leaders in our community by giving two awards at this event: the Muddy Boot Award, an honor which harks back to Oak Ridge’s Manhattan Project days, when leaders of our community worked through adverse conditions to build a better community; and, the Postma Young Professional Medal, named after former ORNL director Herman Postma and his wife Pat Postma, who led the MBA program at the University of Tennessee for a number of years.
Special ETEC Events
Throughout the year ETEC holds special events to celebrate key events that affect our community. For example, a reception hosted to introduce the new leadership of Huntington Ingalls (also the owner of Newport News Shipbuilders) that acquired S.M. Stoller Corporation. These events are a great opportunity for ETEC members to interact with each other and to be involved in the business of the region.
Other Calendar Items
The ETEC Calendar contains other events that are helpful to our members. They range from the Friends of ORNL meetings held once a month to the Tennessee Small Business Development Center seminars held at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce.
