DOE Awards Oak Ridge Reservation Cleanup Contract

DOE's Office of Environmental Management awarded United Cleanup Oak Ridge LLC (UCOR) of Germantown, MD, the Oak Ridge Reservation Cleanup Contract (ORRCC) at the Oak Ridge Reservation. UCOR is a newly formed limited liability company made up of AECOM Energy & Construction Inc., Jacobs Technology Inc., and Honeywell International Inc.

UPF Completes Structural Construction, Main Process Building

The Uranium Processing Facility at the Y-12 National Security Complex successfully completed all third-level walls and concrete roof placements for the Main Process Building marking a major milestone for the UPF Project. This signifies the completion of structural construction for the MPB.

OREM Disposes Low-Dose Uranium-233, Supports Cancer Research

OREM and its contractor Isotek successfully completed processing and disposing the low-dose inventory of uranium (U)-233 stored at ORNL this month, ending a two-year effort that has eliminated a portion of the site’s legacy nuclear material and provided rare nuclear isotopes for next-generation cancer treatment research.

Seven ORNL Technologies Win R&D 100 Research Awards

Research teams from DOE’s ORNL and their technologies have received seven 2021 R&D 100 Awards, plus special recognition for a COVID-19-related project. Established in 1963, the R&D 100 Awards annually recognize 100 accomplishments in research leading to new commercial products, technologies and materials from around the world notable for their technological significance.

Students Design Outdoor Recreation Center for UT Research Park

Rose’s studio completed the first phase of a design/build project in support of a proposed outdoor recreation center for the UT Research Park at Cherokee Farm. The project is being studied in partnership with the Tennessee RiverLine and Legacy Parks Foundation and might include a boathouse for kayaks, an amphitheatre, bicycling accommodations, gathering spaces and more.
