Y-12 Lab Receives Recertification for Nuclear Navy Support
The Analytical Chemistry Organization (ACO) at the Y-12 National Security Complex recently received good news from Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory that the ACO completed the annual laboratory requalification to continue supporting nuclear Navy reactors through June 30, 2022.

Former Centrifuge Area Site Ready for Reuse after Crews Remove 5-Acre Slab
The former Centrifuge Complex at ETTP has been cleared and is ready for industrial development. Left behind from the cleanup of one of the tallest buildings on the site was a large concrete slab spanning more than 5 acres. Workers recently finished removing the slab and backfilling the site.

Lab-in-a-Box Program Hits Major Milestone
Roane State's Community College Lab-in-a-Box program has placed three kits in all 27 rural schools involved in the program. Evolved from an initiative begun 11 years ago by ETEC, the program promotes STEM education in rural schools.

Governor Lee Honors Oak Ridge 85, Clinton 12
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee honored the 65-year-ago history-making steps of the Oak Ridge 85 and the Clinton 12 during a ceremony in the Scarboro Community Center. He gave out proclamations declaring August 31 as Clinton 12 and Oak Ridge 85 Day.

BGS Receives DOD Cybersecurity Authorization
Oak Ridge based Boston Government Services is the fourth company in the U.S. to pass the Dept. of Defense Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification. BGS is now a certified 3rd-Party Assessor Organization able to conduct compliance assessments for federal contractors.

Seeing Inside the Secret City… Without Setting a Foot on Site
The public will soon be able to get a sneak peek inside Y‑12 National Security Complex’s Building 9731 – a historic Manhattan Project-era building – without ever stepping foot on‑site. A virtual tour of select areas of the building is being developed in cooperation with the NNSA Production Office, DOE, Oak Ridge Consolidated Service Center, and the National Park Service.
