The virtual meeting will contain updates on cyber threats,
ORNL infrastructure, and workforce development at
Pellissippi State Community College.

We will use the Zoom Conferencing platform in its normal format. Attendees will be visible unless they choose to turn off their video.

In executive session of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Technology, U.S. Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) led the passage of an amendment to the Endless Frontier Act to invest $17 billion in DOE National Laboratories and User Facilities.

Cleanup Progress Creates New Economic Opportunities

Land at the East Tennessee Technology Park is already being put to beneficial reuse and providing new economic opportunities for the community after OREM and its contractor UCOR became the first in the world to remove a former enrichment site there last year.

Rail Donated in Support of OR Airport Project

To support the proposed Oak Ridge Airport, EnergySolutions recently announced plans to donate a section of rail track to the city of Oak Ridge. The 1.67 miles section of track being donated is from the Wheat Station area to the south end of the line near Portal 10.

Centrus Sees Strong Growth in Nuclear Fuel Sales

US nuclear fuel and services provider Centrus Energy Corporation announced it has secured new nuclear fuel sales contracts and commitments valued at about $225 million over the past 12 months. This, the company said, was the strongest period for new sales since 2015.

Pro2Serve announced the appointment of Sherry Browder as President, effective June 1, 2021. Browder, who currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Jeff Salyers, who announced his planned retirement from the Company.

Leo Sain Passed Away on May 13

Mr. Leo H. Sain, age 73, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., passed away surrounded by family. He held many positions, including President of Washington Safety Management Solutions, President of Washington Savannah River Company, CEO/President of UCOR, and most recently as the D&D/Waste Management Sector lead within Nuclear & Environment for Amentum.
