EM Prepping Cold War Reactor for Deactivation
OREM is set to begin cleanup of a first-of-a-kind experimental reactor at the ORNL. OREM and cleanup subcontractor UCOR are in the planning stages to fully deactivate the Experimental Gas-Cooled Reactor for eventual demolition.

UT Grad Programs See Increase in Enrollment
Overall enrollment of graduate and professional students at the Graduate School at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is on the rise, with more than 6,300 students enrolled this fall—up from 6,100 last year.

Y-12 Honored with DOE Sustainability Awards
DOE recently awarded two 2020 Sustainability Awards to Y-12 National Security Complex. Jim Donnelly from NNSA’s Production Office was honored with the Sustainability Lifetime Achievement Award. The second award was given to a team that found a new paving method to increase parking lot space for the UPF Project workforce .

Process to Recover Metals from Batteries Licensed by Momentum Technologies
Momentum Technologies Inc., a Dallas, Texas-based materials science company that is focused on extracting critical metals from electronic waste, has licensed an Oak Ridge National Laboratory process for recovering cobalt and other metals from spent lithium-ion batteries.
