Legislation Gives Big Boost to Advanced Nuclear Reactors

U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander released a statement after the Senate voted 84-3 to begin consideration of a comprehensive bipartisan energy bill that would help lower energy costs and unleash an abundance of clean, cheap, reliable energy.

Administration Plans to Give a Boost to Uranium Producers

Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette said the Trump administration plans to give a boost to the uranium industry, which it has repeatedly tried to help. Brouillette responded “yes” to a question from Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) about whether the administration is “prepared to provide immediate relief for the uranium producers.”

ORNL Gives Large Vehicles a Fuel Savings Green Light

Large trucks lumbering through congested cities could become more fuel-efficient simply by not having to stop at so many traffic lights. A proof-of-concept study by ORNL shows promise of a potential new system to direct traffic lights to keep less-efficient vehicles moving and reduce fuel consumption.

K-25 History Center to Preserve Site’s Rich History

Hundreds of community members and former workers attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new K-25 History Center. DOE’s OREM and its contractor UCOR hosted the grand opening for the history center, located next to the original foundation for the K-25 Building.

Perma-Fix Expands LLRW Processing and Treatment Capability

Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. announced the expansion of its Low-Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW) processing and treatment capacity through the addition of a highly specialized facility located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Perma-Fix Environmental Waste Operations Center is an 8.7-acre facility located at ETTP.
