UT's Newest Research Initiative Focuses on Humans, Animals, Environment
The University of Tennessee announced a new health research initiative. The UT One Health Initiative will look at how the health of humans, animals and the environment are connected, and improving the health of all three. It will combine the research efforts of UT-Knoxville, the UT Institute of Agriculture, ORNL, and the UT Health Science Center.

Advanced Composites: UT Startup Recycles Fibers for Nonwoven Mats
Endeavor Composites has developed an innovative mixer system that can disperse long (1 to 1.5 inches) carbon fibers in water, producing defect-free nonwoven mats for use in fiber-reinforced composites manufacturing — a challenge that researchers have been unsuccessfully attempting to solve for the past few decades.

Using Neutrons to try to Develop Better, Less Costly Dental Restorations
Teeth damaged by trauma or disease require treatment to look and feel as good as new, but the restorative materials available to dentists don’t always last and can be costly for patients. A professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, College of Dentistry, is conducting research at the DOE's ORNL High Flux Isotope Reactor to try to change that.
