On Friday, President Trump nominated a new head of DOE. Since the news that acting Energy Secretary Rick Perry would step down, many speculated Deputy Secretary Dan Brouillette would replace him. Brouillette has kept a lower profile domestically than Perry, leading many to publish bland descriptions of him as the nominee to head U.S. energy R&D and keep an eye on the nation’s nuclear arsenal.

Pathway to Success – Y-12’s Early Career Group

Y-12’s Early Career Group recently sponsored a professional development panel, “Pathway to Success.” The discussion featured CNS Vice Presidents Linda Bauer, Dave Beck, and Bill Tindal. The executive leadership team members shared insights about their career paths. Question topics included their defining career moment, how to successfully navigate roadblocks, creating career goals and advice they would give to their early career selves.

EM’s Highest Priority Project at ORNL Gains Momentum

Workers have begun processing a powder form of uranium-233 a year ahead of schedule as part of a larger EM project to safely process and dispose of the remaining inventory of the nuclear material stored at ORNL. Launching this portion of the disposition project is an achievement for OREM and Isotek, the contractor responsible for processing and disposing of the site’s uranium-233 inventory — EM’s highest priority at ORNL.
