TVA Issues Carbon-Free Energy RFP

In 2021, TVA announced an aspirational goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. As part of this initiative, TVA is issuing a request for proposal (RFP) today, for up to 5,000 MW of carbon-free and renewable energy projects with commercial operation dates ranging from 2023 through 2029.

Kairos Power Joins with Bruce Power, Constellation, Southern Company and TVA to Form Advanced Nuclear Development Consortium

Two of North America’s leading nuclear utilities unveiled a pioneering partnership to develop advanced nuclear technology as an integral part of a clean energy future and creating a North American energy hub. Ontario Power Generation and the Tennessee Valley Authority will jointly work to help develop small modular reactors as an effective long-term source of 24/7 carbon-free energy in both Canada and the U.S.

TVA Unveils $3M in Pilot Projects — East Tennessee PBS Receives Funds for Building the Future of East Tennessee’s Workforce

East Tennessee PBS is pleased to be included as a partner in a vital TVA initiative, which will allow the non-profit public media organization to apply data and innovative technologies to support the future of East Tennessee’s workforce through a focus on early learners. The project, entitled “Building the Future of East Tennessee’s Workforce: Creating Pathways for Early Learners to the Skills, Jobs, and Opportunities in Our Region,” is being considered for funding by TVA’s Connected Communities initiative, which uses community-driven information and the newest technology solutions to address challenges that include broadband access, environmental risk monitoring, digital literacy training and next-generation career options. 

Clinch River Nuclear Site – Draft PEIS Public Comment Period Open

TVA has published the Clinch River Nuclear Site Advanced Nuclear Reactor Technology Park Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (CRN PEIS). A Notice of Availability was published in the Federal Register. The Draft PEIS and online comment form are available on TVA’s website.

TVA Board Authorizes New Nuclear Program to Explore Innovative Technology

The Tennessee Valley Authority Board of Directors ratified approval of a programmatic approach to exploring advanced nuclear technology as a component of its decarbonization goals as discussed at its meeting on the campus of Western Kentucky University on Feb. 10, the board’s first in-person meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
