Hubbard named Deputy for Science and Technology at ORNL

DOE’s ORNL. Her appointment is effective March 1, 2022. Hubbard joins ORNL from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where she most recently served as associate laboratory director of Berkeley Lab’s Earth and Environmental Sciences Area, leading efforts to find solutions to sustainably meet the water, energy, critical mineral, environmental quality and food needs of a growing population.

CNS Data Centers Launch a New Generation of Power

If you think of our systems, applications, or network as living and breathing beings, the data center is the brain that essentially regulates every function. As a centralized facility tasked with housing and maintaining multiple server racks that store, process, and backup our electronic information, our data centers are vital to daily operations at Pantex and Y-12. The Pantex and Y-12 Data Center Consolidation and Modernization projects are progressively coming to fruition, enhancing the monitoring, power reliability, and cooling infrastructure of our IT systems at both sites. At Y-12, Information Solutions and Services continues to decommission legacy hardware and move it into its new home. Meanwhile, the Power Upgrade Project at the Pantex data center continues to implement additional levels of redundancy and alternate power sources.

Verizon Awarded $34.6M in Digital Modernization Contracts with DOE

Verizon Public Sector has been awarded $34.6 million through two contract awards with DOE. The task orders were awarded through the federal government’s Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) contract vehicle. The contracts include voice and data services and will involve a number of DOE facilities.

C2 Labs spins out RegScale as separate, product development company

Roughly two and one-half years after teaming-up to drive growth at C2 Labs, a digital transformation services company, Anil Karmel and Travis Howerton announced yesterday that they are spinning out the product development component and its inaugural product named Atlasity into a new company. Named RegScale, the new venture is focused on delivering continuous compliance automation for highly regulated public and private sector entities.

NRC Accepts Application for Kairos Construction Permit

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has accepted for review an application from Kairos
Power for a permit to construct a test reactor at a site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Kairos submitted
the first portion of the application on Sept. 29, and the remainder on Oct. 31.
