NNSA Individuals and Teams Receive Secretary’s Honor Awards

The Department of Energy 2021 Secretary’s Honor Awards recognized a significant number of NNSA employees for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to nuclear security. Of the 1,100 DOE employees recognized, the recipients included two individuals and 522 team members from NNSA. This included the Y-12 Development Electrorefining Team.

REAC/TS honored by Secretary of Energy for NASA Mars Perseverance Rover support

U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm honored REAC/TS with the Secretary’s Achievement Award during a virtual ceremony on January 12, 2022, for supporting NASA’s Mars Perseverance Rover launch in July 2020. The award honors teams of DOE/NNSA employees and contractors who accomplish significant achievements on behalf of the Department, demonstrating cooperation and teamwork in attaining their goals.

Secretary’s Honor Awards recognize dozens of ORNL employees

Oak Ridge National Laboratory employees received Department of Energy Secretary’s Honor Awards from Secretary Jennifer Granholm in January as part of project teams spanning the national laboratory system. The annual awards recognized 21 teams and three individuals for service and contributions to DOE’s mission and to the benefit of the nation. More than 50 current employees and recent retirees from ORNL received awards.

The Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management and contractor UCOR have key efforts at all three major cleanup sites — East Tennessee Technology Park, Y-12 National Security Complex, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Secretary Granholm Honors Oak Ridge Project Team With Achievement Award

The Oak Ridge Vision 2020 Project Team, comprised of members from the Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management and cleanup contractor UCOR, was selected for the Secretary’s Achievement Award for successfully cleaning and transforming the former enrichment complex into a multi-use industrial hub, national park and conservation area.

Y-12 Celebrates Innovative Tech Accomplishments

Consolidated Nuclear Security recently celebrated innovations at Pantex and Y-12 during fiscal year 2021. Personnel behind nine inventions and five patents were recognized in a combined virtual ceremony.
