Suresh Babu has been appointed senior advisor for research and STEM workforce development initiatives at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in a role that will focus on strategic investments in research and development and curricular innovations aimed at preparing a 21st-century STEM workforce.

A novel method to 3D print components for nuclear reactors, developed by DOE's ORNL, has been licensed by Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation. USNC will incorporate this method to boost their mission to develop and deploy nuclear-based, energy-generating equipment that is safe, commercially competitive, and simple to use.

Consolidated Nuclear Security recently celebrated innovations at Pantex and Y-12 during FY 2021. The personnel behind nine inventions and five patents were recognized in a combined virtual ceremony. The invention disclosures filed ranged from environmental and electrical load controllers, to diagnostic tools, sensors, and unique material processes.
