ORNL and AMS Advancing Reactor Technology

Toward the goal of bringing the next generation of nuclear power reactor technology online this decade, ORNL and Analysis and Measurement Services Corporation, have successfully completed loop testing of instrument and control sensors for an advanced reactor design for small modular reactors.

UPF Celebrates Fully Enclosed Process Support Facilities

The Uranium Processing Facility Project at the Y-12 National Security Complex recently installed the last piece of siding for the Process Support Facilities, marking a significant milestone for the UPF Project. The PSF is now fully enclosed, known in the construction industry as “in the dry”.

Wastewater Treatment Facility Critical to Cleanup Upgraded

DOE’s OREM recently reduced the cost of treating wastewater, a vital function to EM’s cleanup mission, by consolidating capabilities into a single facility. The improvements are among EM’s investments in recent years to upgrade and extend the life of aging treatment systems at ORNL.

CNS Wins DOE GreenBuy Award

Y-12 and Pantex were honored for purchasing sustainable products with a Silver GreenBuy award from DOE for fiscal year 2020. They met goals of purchasing or using a minimum of six sustainable products in at least three product categories.
