U.S. NRC Approves AMS Technology for Widespread Implementation in Nuclear Power Plants

Analysis and Measurement Services Corporation (AMS), a Knoxville-based nuclear engineering company with a worldwide list of clientele received formal approval from the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in Washington, D.C. for implementation of its online monitoring (OLM) technology in nuclear power plants. This technology promises to save nuclear plants millions of dollars in maintenance costs while improving plant safety and reducing radiation exposure to plant personnel.

AMSE's Alan Lowe Inducted Into UK Hall of Distinguished Alumni

Recently, the University of Kentucky inducted 27 former students into the 2020 Hall of Distinguished Alumni. The alumni were honored for their meaningful contributions to the Commonwealth, nation and the world. The prestigious event, held every five years, was postponed last year due to pandemic restrictions.

AMSE Director, Alan Lowe, was one of this year's recipients of the award.

Researchers Reach Quantum Networking Milestone in Real-World Environment

A team from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Stanford University and Purdue University developed and demonstrated a novel, fully functional quantum local area network, or QLAN, to enable real-time adjustments to information shared with geographically isolated systems at ORNL using entangled photons passing through optical fiber.

Kairos Submits PSAR for Oak Ridge Demonstration Reactor

US company Kairos Power has submitted the preliminary safety analysis report (PSAR) for its fluoride salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (KP-FHR) to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as part of its application for a construction permit for the Hermes low-power demonstration reactor, which is to be built in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

CNS distributes $100,000 in community grants to 17 non-profits

With the latest round of community investment grants, Consolidated Nuclear Security topped $800,000 of investment in the East Tennessee community over the last five years. The CNS Community Investment Fund, created in 2014, is funded by CNS and is managed by the East Tennessee Foundation, which serves 25 East Tennessee counties.
