A software package, 10 years in the making, that can predict the behavior of nuclear reactors’ cores with stunning accuracy has been licensed commercially for the first time. EPRI is the first to hold a commercial license for the Virtual Environment for Reactor Applications, or VERA.

DOE, Nevada Might Settle SRS Plutonium Case

DOE and the state of Nevada could soon settle a lengthy legal dispute regarding the cross-country relocation of weapons-usable plutonium once kept at the Savannah River Site. In a court filing last week, the parties said they were "engaged in substantive and promising" negotiations, and that further judicial intervention could jeopardize an "amicable" solution.

Medical Isotope Firm CEO Tells of Plans for OR Facility

Carmen Bigles and her team at CoquÍ Pharma plan to construct by 2026 a large facility housing two 10-megawatt, open-pool nuclear reactors on Duct Island, a 206-acre tract in the Oak Ridge Heritage Center, an industrial park just east of ETTP and near the site for the proposed new Oak Ridge airport.
