Hundreds of Families Attend Oak Ridge STEM Event

Oak Ridge’s EM program and two of its contractors, UCOR and Isotek, supported a local middle school’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics night, which attracted 700 students and their families. The event at Jefferson Middle School was the second-annual STEM night.

Tennessee Utility Uses Quantum Tech for Cybersecurity

EPB of Chattanooga hosted top researchers in quantum physics from both the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in a test of a new type of cybersecurity control network regarded as far safer and less vulnerable to cyberattacks than any existing controls.

With Key Isotopes Depleted, DOE Plans Production Center

DOE has proposed an isotope production and research center at ORNL that could be important for medical, national security, and research projects. DOE said its supply of certain key enriched stable isotopes has been depleted, making the U.S. more dependent upon foreign imports for enriched stable isotopes.
