TVA Asks for Public Input on the Clinch River Nuclear Site
The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking for public comment on its Notice of Intent to prepare a Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement on proposed actions for an advanced nuclear reactor technology park at the Clinch River Nuclear Site in Roane County, Tennessee.

U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty has drawn assignments on committees related to banking, foreign relations, and the federal budget. His office announced that he will serve on the Senate Committees on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Foreign Relations; Appropriations; and Rules.

ORNL Employees Recognized with DOE Secretary’s Honor Awards
Thirty-two Oak Ridge National Laboratory employees were named among teams recognized by former U.S. DOE Secretary Dan Brouillette with Secretary’s Honor Awards as he completed his term. DOE’s site manager for ORNL, Johnny Moore, is among those honored.

ORISE Report: Nuclear Engineering Degrees Highest Level Since 2016
The number of nuclear engineering degrees awarded in 2019 were at the highest level since 2016, driven primarily by a significant increase in the number of masters’ degrees awarded. Additionally, the number of doctorate degrees awarded in 2019 were the second highest level recorded since 1966.

OREM Moves Closer to Clearing Away Biology Complex
EM crews recently finished taking down Building 9210, one of the final remaining buildings located in the former Biology Complex at the Y-12 National Security Complex. The Biology Complex is categorized as high risk due to its structural condition, and its removal will provide land for national security missions at the site.

TVA Leads the Way for 200,000 Electric Vehicles by 2028.
TVA's EV Initiative, built on partnerships with local power companies and other organizations, anticipates growing the number of EVs across its seven-state service area from approximately 14,000 to over 200,000 by 2028. In addition to significantly reduced carbon emissions, the average EV driver can save up to $1,000 in fuel costs every year.

Architect Chosen for Oak Ridge Conference Center
The Oak Ridge City Council recently and unanimously approved an agreement with an architectural firm of up to $185,000 to design and renovate a conference center in the space next to the American Museum of Science and Energy. The funding will come from the state of Tennessee rather than city tax funds, and Council will need to vote on any expenses above $185,000.

City Leaders Oppose NNSA’s Push for Sole-Source Contract to Purify HEU
Oak Ridge Mayor Warren Gooch announced that the City remains opposed to a plan by the DOE's NNSA to contract with a third-party vendor to perform uranium purification offsite at a location 125 miles away from the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge. Gooch expressed concern about NNSA’s push to move the work outside the Oak Ridge region.
