Over 200 people joined us on Friday, December 11, from 11:00-2:00 for our Virtual Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration. Using the Remo platform attendees networked and then enjoyed a program emceed by ETEC's Board Chair, Eric Abelquist.

Kairos Power Selects ETTP Site for Fluoride Salt-Cooled High-Temperature Test Reactor

Kairos Power announced today at the 2020 East Tennessee Economic Council Annual Meeting and Awards Celebration its plans to deploy a test reactor at the East Tennessee Technology Park pending completion of due diligence and the results of discussions with state and local officials.

Using GPS Technology to Remediate Former Oil Tank Farm

EM crews have laid protective soil over a 9-acre parcel at ETTP where an oil tank farm once sat, and they’re preparing 21 acres of adjacent land for soil cover to improve site drainage. The oil tank farm, which operated in the 1940s and 1950s, was used to house fuel for the former K-770 Powerhouse.

Building an Exascale-Class Data Center for ORNL’s Incoming Frontier Supercomputer

Frontier will reside in the former data center of the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility’s Cray XK7 Titan supercomputer; once the most powerful supercomputer in the world, it was decommissioned after 7 years of service last year. After dismantling and removing Titan's components for recycling, work began to revamp the space to accommodate Frontier’s much higher requirements for power, cooling, and structural support.
